Would you give up nice weather and affordable cost of living to be near family?
My husband and I have 2 child we now live in Vegas but my whole familly is on Long Island New York where my mom, 4 sisters and 2 brothers live. My sons would also be near their cousins, my sons are 2 yrs old and 6 yrs old. The 6 yr old is really close to his cousins and misses them, but I’m thinking that Tampa would be a better choice as far as weather, cost of living. That lifestyle would more coincide with what I want for the future possibly to become a stay at home mom or continue
working parttime. I am a pharmacist and my husband is a pilot(just starting off). We’re definately moving but its hard to decide on which to chose NY or Tampa, With the real estate costs in NY and high cost of living I’d be handcuffed to my job, but then I’d be close to family, we have noone in Tampa just like in Vegas and we felt totally isolated for the 5 yrs we’ve lived in Vegas, which would you chose if it were you in the same situation.

Well have you ever visited and researched Tampa, I say Tampa might be a better choice since it is closer to your family. I agree that the cost of living and way of living would be better in FL. In NY its ridiculous. My parents will be moving to port charlotte, fl on the west coast of fl. It will be hard not to have them right here in li,ny. When the kids are off from school which is pretty often we can visit. There is nothing like having family around though. But I believe in quality over quantity. I would rather have enough time with my kids, not being stressed out cause I have to work 9-5 lets say. You come home, have to cook dinner ( or find something to eat), do homework, and try to spend time with kids, hubby etc. I live in ny LI, all my family is here yet because evryone is working, etc I still only see them mostly on holidays. Noone has time for anything else during the week because of working, having their own lives..well in my family anyway. If you live in the same town maybe it would be ok to move to NY. I would love to have the opportunity to have a better quality of life, but for now I can not move, I’m divorced and I can not move too far away because of visitation. In Tampa would you be able to find a good area that is affordable, well since you and hubby have good jobs prob. I think weather is important as well. In new york I basically hibernate during the winter. The summers are cool but the weather is so so, although recently the weather has not been bad at all. With the housing prices down now though you might be able to find something affordable now, not the same scenery as FL though. I do think NY is a great city very cultural and many things to do esp if you have the money, and if I were rich I would live here half the year and FL the other half. Well now that I have totally confused you more, I hope you have a few more things you can think about. Good luck in what you decide, not an easy choice…..

Tampa… you can always take a long weekend to see family.
With family comes DRAMA… i perfer to go about life drama free. =D
