What are good neighborhoods in Las Vegas for a single family vacation home (3 + bedrooms)? It would be helpful if you have an idea of the asking prices as well. Also, how far away from the Vegas strip would this be? Is now a good time to start looking? Thanks.
And their metro areas look like in 20 years and what will be the dominant form of transportation? What will happen to the suburbs and existing single-family home neighborhoods? I don’t see how you can just demolish things that already exist.
my husband, baby(1yr old) and myself are planning a move to las vegas in october 2009. we don’t want to buy a house, we just want to rent for 2-3 years and be kinda close to the strip, as the hubby will be going there a lot…anyway, do you know any sites that offer fully furnishsed single family homes or even condos? and where is the "nice" place to stay? which area is safe? i keep hearing abount summerlin, do they rent there?

I’m planning on moving to Las Vegas 3 years from now as my primary residence and plan to buy a big single family detached home there but I’m from California and know nothing about living in Nevada. I heard it was much cheaper in California becuase their aren’t many taxes beucase the casinos pay the most of the revenue to the state. I’m wondering if living in Las Vegas in cheaper compared to California?

I want to purchase an undervalued single family home in las vegas. It is comped at 570-600 thousand and others in the area are listed in the 650s and up. Its a 3300sq ft 4 bdroom home. they are taking offers for 4 weeks and the listed price is 400k. They said that the best offer after the 4 weeks will get the home. if I offer 425k and get the home, will i be able to cash out refi immediately for 525k plus Closing costs and pull out 100k, then put in on the market for 565k. Would that be a smart move or is it illegal to refi within a year?
I don’t really like Las Vegas, but might have to move there. I am retired, widower, 70s. Now I live in a suburb of DC. It is expensive and my mortgage, taxes, insurance will soon drive me out anyway. People who live near me work like slaves (just like I sort of did) and raise kids (like we did). Now, I am nearly broke due to bad financial decisions and over the top over-spending. I guess that I will be able to live modestly from now on since my pension covers my mortgage and my savings pay for basic necessities.
Back to Las Vegas. I am looking for something that costs no more than 0,000 or I will have to get too much of a mortgage. I’ll do it, if necessary, but want to cut all my expenses. Can I find a nice, one story single family home that has a garage, two BR, two baths and maybe a yard with a pool? Also, privacy and really quiet and safe. Am I asking too much? Right now, if I could, I would just lock up this house, get in my SUV and drive around the country for a year thinking this over, but I have done enough of that stuff and still do not know what to do in my so-called retirement. I want to buy huge property in Las Vegas either a high rise condo near the strip or a single family home like KB Home, Lennar, Richmond American. I’m planning on buying a big place for myself to settle than raise a family in there but I don’t know what choice to make either a house or in a high rise condo like MGM Sky Lofts, Trump Tower, or City Center just to name a few.
I researched a lot on the web and visited Las Vegas to get an idea of different areas to purchase a home. My main concern is a good neighborhood that won’t depreciate in value. I really liked the northwest area 89129, south 89123 and southwest 89147, 89117. My budget is 250,000-300,000, 3br 2bath 1500-2000sf. Why are there so many homes in the 89129 area that are for sale?? Do you think the future development of the strip expanding to the areas 89123,89147,89117 have a negative impact on single family home prices?? Any advice, opinions or comments would be appreciated.
Also do you think house prices will continue to depreciate, should I wait it out??
