what do casinos do with all their used cards? can I get some?

One of my friends had a relative who worked with a company that did restoration on casinos, he would come home with decks of cards for free because playing cards are used very lightly in casinos then clipped…

so my question is what do the casinos do with ALL those used cards? i have seen some of them for sale on eBay, and some other random stores when I’m in Vegas… (ridiculously expensive for something used) But realistically they cant possibly sell all those clipped cards can they?

If the casinos just recycle used cards is there any way to just walk down to a casino and ask for a box of used cards?

I flick cards for fun… like ‘how many can I get into the hat till I miss, sort of a thing, and when a card is flicked it gets a crease and isn’t useable anymore, so If possible I would like to have an unlimited supply of cards ;)

thanks in advance!

Just moved to back to Vegas, looking for work immediately!?

Hey everybody. Just relocated back to Las Vegas from San Diego, lived here for 4 years. I’m looking for work locally, but in a down economy I realize it ain’t easy. Applying at these casinos is a
joke and no one is hiring bartenders or food servers it seems.

Does anybody know of a good way to make cash here besides
being a taxi cab driver? Labor Ready has no work, and I have bills
to pay. Any help would be appreciated.

Is the cost of living in las Vegas very high or low?

I’m planning on moving to Las Vegas 3 years from now as my primary residence and plan to buy a big single family detached home there but I’m from California and know nothing about living in Nevada. I heard it was much cheaper in California becuase their aren’t many taxes beucase the casinos pay the most of the revenue to the state. I’m wondering if living in Las Vegas in cheaper compared to California?

Why is no politician noting the CASINO connection to the struggles in the economy?

I know two families, before the current slump, that lost their homes because it was mortgaged due to a gambling. I have heard of three other neighborhood families in the same boat with the tanking of the stock market but they also mortgaged their home due to gambling.

For those of you who are knee-jerk judgmental, that is not the issue. I will get it out of the way for you – gambling, like drug addition and smoking, is not smart to start and becomes an addiction that is horrible to break, if at all p ossible.

Buidling casinos is like putting kiosks on the corner for heroin. The fact is that more people will try it and become addicted. Studies have shown that foreclosure and bankrupty rates increase by ten fold within ten miles of where a casino is built.

There are few studies because people want to simply judge and not address the problem. ( As a social scientist, I see this often. I have places and programs for drug addicts and even sex addicts. But for some reason, everyone wants to tell a gambler that it is their fault and not give help.)

It is my theory that it is ruining the economy. The USA is becoming one big Las vegas.

But the states and cities continue to force upon unsuspecting citizenry and "easy" means of raising state funds (that never go to where the politicians orginally say that they are going) and creating a society with a lot of of gambling addicts that is having a terrible effect upon society.

And no, it is not just poor and black people.
I am glad to see that there are so few answers. It means that most people get it. Only the few holier than thou showed up, who usually have a lot worsethings in theoir closets.

Judging, they are not lookimg at the economic and societal picture. That is why the USA sucks.

Would you like to see more Casinos in Detroit?

The state of Michigan is making ,000,000 per day on the casinos currently which we all know they desperately need. It is helping turn the city around financially, it is creating jobs, and it is taking up real estate in Detroit. Would you like to see Detroit become the Midwest Las Vegas?

What are the requirements to work in a Gaming establishment in Las Vegas in a non-gaming position?

My mom wants me to get a job over the summer. Living in Vegas, most of the employment is in casinos. As long as I don’t work in the casino proper (for example as a dealer) and in a non-gaming position ( ex:hotel opperations, bellhop/valet, resteraunts, bowling alley), are there any restrictions that provent me for getting these jobs?

Also if it helps most likely if I apply it will be at an off strip property most likely a station casino. Although I may take a position on the strip with MGM or Harrahs.
Just to clarify, any position that I would consider taking would fall under the non-gaming category. I’m looking at things such as bowling alley (Red Rock Station is hiring, any one have expierence working for station and willing to ggive their opinion?) bus boy, bellhop, front desk, giftshop and so on. Also if I work in a resteraunt that has a bar do I still need a TAM card even though I’m not serving it?

Sacremento Kings Relocation Update?

Any updates on this issue. For a while I heard they were considering relocation because their current arena is old and small. Many tries to build a new arena failed. I then heard they were planning on possibly moving to Las Vegas (where the owners own many casinos) but this fell through as a new arena is still needed in Las Vegas (the current one is to small) and the new one would be owned by one of their main competitors in the casino business. After that I haven’t heard anything. Does anyone know if anything new has happened?

Is gambling for a living dangerous ?

I moved out to Las Vegas at the end of July and in less than a month , Ive managed to win close to 00 playing blackjack at about 5 different casinos on the strip. I learned how to count cards in los angeles before I came out from a professional who has been banned from 10 casinos in vegas . Actually his in the griffith book. I would spend 8 hours a day practicing and practicing. It wasnt easy but I finally learned it. I came out here with no job, 000 in cash , my old car, and alot of fear but hope. I was suppose to look for a job and start a career at a bank but after I saw the money coming in , I just couldnt stop. Its so convenient because the casinos are open 24/7, I could set my own schedule, I am my own boss, quick profits, and tax benefits. I am using the system hes taught me and its working extremely well. I got 2 free show tickets, a junior sweet at the Bellagio, and compt dinners at Harras and Flamingo. I feel I have an advantage . Is this for real or just temporary ?
