Moving to Nevada you will face many challenges.

1) Employment (just how secure is that job u have? NV is 3-4% HIGHER than the nation unemployment average).

2) Home foreclosures (I believe number one or two in the nation) Our default rate is SIX times the national average.

3) CONSTANT construction for years at a time and only getting longer due to this recession. (If this is near the home you will own then this may depreciate the value?!)

4) Drunk drivers. 35-38% of vehicle fatalities are due to drunks.

5) Many of those accidents not caused by drunks are because they are tourists gawking and not paying attention to their driving.

6) Crime stats in link below...

7) I could go on much longer, but will stop here.

I'm sorry, I know that seems like a totally negative report of Vegas. To be honest there are probably MANY things that you may like about it that makes you want to come. Everywhere has SOME good traits. But the fact is, living here, I have SEEN all of the above!!! I have just included percentages so you can see where Vegas rates nationwide in the mix. Another reason why I posted these sobering stats is that you really SHOULD be forewarned about all this stuff ahead of time so you can make an educated and informed decision to this important step in your life.

Regardless of your choice I hope you prosper and enjoy your relocation. Wherever it may be.

Good luck!

I am from the L.A. area thinking of moving to Atlanta lol... and I have been to Las Vegas / Henderson a few times and I mean it's a nice place to visit but all the dead vegetation really bums me out... Vegas does have a lot of stuff to do all year round at all hours of the night... it just all depends on what you are into... definitely not a shortage of booze and partying... there are some good restaurants... but the desert and lack of trees really kills it for me... although the dry heat of las vegas still beats all the humidity of Atlanta...may I ask why you didn't like Atlanta? Because I am still iffy on if I want to move there...

Good thing you have a job because unemployment is nearly 15% but know apartments are high, at least $1400 for 2bed in good areas/safe.

Vegas is in the Mojave Desert so summers are over 100 for at least three months. Today it was 80, which is unusallly high for November but fantastic. Winters can be cold and very windy, sometimes down to freezing at night. There is not four seasons

Locals do not gamble like visitors. They do take advantage of the buffets, restaurants, shows, etc. People work different shifts 24/7 so you may never see or talk to a neighbor, in apartment or house.

Traffic increased as the population of Clark County where Vegas is reached near 2million. Crime, too. Gas and food is trucked in from CA so higher than other states.

There is a small ski area at Mt Charleston Lee Canyon. There are lots of places for biking and hiking. Away from the tourists areas are schools, libraries, restaurants at local casinos and independent, movies theatres (usually at casino), parks,, malls, etc., a regular city.

People either love or hate Vegas.

You will find it much cheaper living in Vegas. You will find 24 hr living very convenient. Since you don't have to worry about a job you will be fine. Housing is low priced if buying but renting it is high. A lot lower than CA though. Read this web page for information on living in Vegas.
