I am considering a job opportunity in Las Vegas.. what are good places to live near the strip? or?
I am considering a job opportunity in Las Vegas. It would be on the Strip. I would like to do some research into what kind of place I’d want to live – a condo? Home? apartment rental? And have no idea what kind of good areas are around there, or what is desireable. Any advice?

Opportunity or offer because the unemployment is close to 11% and growing. This is not the time to move here and think a job is easy to get and to keep.
You do not want to lvie by the Strip. Rather best to have a car, and drive at least eight/ten miles for better housing options. Areas to consider are Piccole Ranch, Summerlin, The Lakes, and Rhodes Ranch. Stay away from anything in zip 89109.

You should buy. Condos are dirt cheap. I was talking with a poker dealer who recently moved to Vegas. She bought a condo for $70,000. Her mortgage is $400 a month, whereas her rent would have been $1000. So, if it seems like it will be a secure job, definitely buy!

Never live in a neighborhood where the residents feel they need to have bars on their windows. This describes all the residential neighborhoods near the strip. Like the ones along Maryland from Tropicana northwards.

Prices are great right now.
So it would be your preferecne. Condo, no maintenance. Apartment the same. House maintaince but better invenstment.
What will you be doing.
I would recommend you look in Henderson. I have a house here and it is ten minutes to the area you will work at.
It is also a little away for some peace and quiet.
I love it here.

Hurrah you have a job! I personally think this place is great, if you have work. Whether you want to buy or rent is really only a question of what type of commitment you’re willing to make. Due to the foreclosure rate, there are many houses on the cheap here, so that is always an option.
There are some condos on the strip and around the strip, but they are either going to be super posh or super ghetto. I personally would recommend looking into Henderson, 7 Hills, Green Valley or Summerlin for places to live. Henderson will be the most economical overall.

You might want to read this website about moving to Vegas. The further from the strip the better. There are condos right on or near the strip but when people live here they avoid the strip if possible. You really want a neighborhood especially if you plan on raising a family. Summerlin, Henderson and the Southwest look like the best areas. That is where the better areas are located.
