how would you rate tropicana hotel in las vegas?
i was wondering how you would rate tropicana hotel and what are
your views on other economy hotels on the strip? what economy
hotels on the strip would you reccomend? also your views on
imperial palace? thank you y/a people.

Trop is a dump. Dirty and needs lots of work. Good news, new management and maybe in a year or so it can turn around. Recent reports in the local papers on the updates.
Imperial Palace is nice and affordable. Monte Carlo has some real deals right now. $39 a night. I would recommend you check the MC web page.

Its a dump for the most part.
Its not a terrible option if you are not overly picky though. Becuase the pool is actually quite nice, and the location is decent. But the rooms look like a cheap miami motel from the 70s.
The Imperial palace is even worse. That place is just creepy and the pool sucks. The ceilings are like 8 feet high in the casino so it feels claustophobic also. Great location, but everything else sucks.
If money is tight, look into the Hilton or the Orleans. Both have very low rates because they are not directly on the strip, but that are still great places to stay.

First, there are not economy hotels on Strip just those with better deals.
Tropicana is a very old hotel but very nice. THe price is right since you hardly spend time in the room. And you can enjoy gambling at any casino regardless where you stay, just not use the rooms. I love the pool setup at Tropicana.

I like the Trop… but don’t like staying there. It is pretty old and dated. Stay away from the buffet, really sucks – but – try the 24 hour cafe, it’s pretty good. Pool is nice.

I’ve stayed at Bally’s and Luxor and recommend them as low priced options. Based on customer reviews, I have never considered Tropicana or IP.

Of the four hotels that existed 1950 -1970, Tropicana, Shara, Riviera, Circus Circus I would go with Sahara (as per most other comments).

Of the 1970′s hotels (1) Imperial Palace, (2) Flamingo, (3) Harrah’s, (4) Casino royale, (5) Bill’s Gambling Hall, (6) Bally’s (7) Hilton. To save money I would go with Harrahs. IP was bought as a tear-down four years ago but it generates so much money that it is still standing.

Ceasars is technically from the 1960′s but it has been upgraded so much over the decades that it is not a budget hotel. Flamingo goes back to Bugsy Siegal and the 1940′s in name only. The original buildings have all been torn down.

Sux. Caters to tourists who cannot or will not spend any money.Imperial Palace is the absolute worst place I have ever eaten at in my life. It’s trashy too. But, they sure have a good auto collection worth seeing.
Forget economy. If you come, travel well, spend the money to make your trip a worthwhile experience. Every city has it’s economy hotels. Las Vegas is the #1 destination choice in the US and maybe still the entire world. Plan on spending enough money to take in the whole experience !

Trop– no, unless you are a health inspector. Do not know your budget for room expenses. Off the strip– the Rio, The Palm, Stratosphere,and the Hilton within day time walking and night time cab rides distance. On the Strip, all satisfactory at various cost. Best to remember weekdays have lower cost now, if you book directly with your choice location via phone.

I have stayed at the Tropicana, and it will fill the need for a room at a casino on the strip. Compared to most of the other casino/hotels, it is older and showing some wear. However even when I stay across the street at MGM – I walk through the Trop and it is packed.
I would also check out Excalibur, Luxor, on that same corner of Las Vegas Blvd & Tropicana Ave.
In the middle of the strip, check out Flamingo, Imperial, Harrah’s, even Bally’s.
I just stayed at the Monte Carlo 3 months ago for $69 a night. But they are all giving good deals right now because business is down.
Also have gotten some great deals at Hooters Casino/Hotel – although it is a bit smaller.
Another possibility that I have stayed at. If you have a car, there is a newer casino/hotel 5 miles south on the main strip. South Point Casino, which is just like any of the strip hotels, just a lot cheaper.
Only problem is that there is nothing on either side of it for miles. So you either stay there, or drive to the strip. I use it when i stay for business trips. If I have a convention, then i stay on the main strip.
Unless you have kids, avoid Circus Circus – it is really run down.

I think the Trop is very mediocre but a not so bad location, and the Imperial Palace is a stay away from even though it is a good location. Instead of looking for economy hotels, I would suggest looking for deals. Monte Carlo often has deals. If you don’t mind kids, the Excalibur can be a deal. I would just keep looking. Deals are plenty now.
The Tropicana is old and run down. Take a look at the Sahara on the other end of the strip. Its also an older property, but the rooms are reasonable and better.
