Back property taxes. I purchased a property in foreclosure from a title company and they owed property taxes.?
Now the city (las vegas) is sending me the back property taxes bill even though I was not the owner at the time. The title company is flat out ignoring the issue even though I have called countless times and faxes all sorts of information to them. Can I fight this or am I liable for the tax payment? The amount includiing late fees is at 0.00. Thanks in advance for any help.

You owe the taxes. You bought it with the property. Thats why you should always make sure taxes are paid before you buy. Tax liability transfers with the property.

if you did not address the issue in the purchase contract you are now responsible for the back taxes and any other liens that may be out against the property as well.

You just made a classic mistake. As the owner of the property you are now responsible for the taxes.
Things are not always what they seem.

You own it warts (i.e. taxes) and all. If your purchase agreement didn’t address taxes you inherit the responsibility for their payment along with the deed.
The tax collector may be willing to waive the penalties and interest due to the circumstances. It won’t hurt to ask. But if you don’t get on it quickly the amount will continue to grow as penalties and interest will continue to accrue.
Tip: Next time, have an attorney review the paperwork.

You are responsible for the back taxes. It is against the property.

Check the closing statement from your purchase of the property. If your statement is a standard HUD-1 form, take a look at lines 210-212 and 406-408 on the first page. That is where the unpaid taxes are listed as a reduction in what you had to pay.
Now that Las Vegas is coming after you, you will have problems selling the property until the taxes are paid.
I hope this helps.
